Calcutta

WHAT IS A CALCUTTA?

A Calcutta auction is a lottery scheme associated with a competitive event in which the competitors are “sold” by auction to the public in attendance. The purchaser(s) of the winning competitor share a predetermined percentage of the proceeds of the sale

The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair holds two Calcutta's annually… One Cattle themed and one Horse themed… both a lot of fun for the adventurous!

The
Cattle Calcutta will be held at Heartland Livestock, Sunday, March 25, 2012.

There participants can view cattle “on the hoof” and “buy” (bet on ) the one(s) that will  become the winning carcass(es). If you have an eye for a good hunk of beef, you won’t want to miss this fun filled evening with others from the industry. Bring your friends, enjoy networking, food and refreshments, and perhaps you’ll even be a winner!
