Hog Quality Competition

Once again this year the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is hosting the Manitoba Pork Hog Quality Competition, celebrating excellence in pork production in our province.

The competing hog carcasses are graded and judged…judges are looking for the perfect combination of meat quality traits and measurements.

Five winners will be selected, and prize money awarded.  But local charities win too, since each of the winning pork producers will donate half their prize money to the charity of their choice.

This year the winning hog carcass will go to  the  Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts at Assiniboine Community College, so that students in the Culinary Arts Program will have an opportunity to practice their skills cooking “Grand Champion” Pork! The other four winning carcasses will be donated to food banks in the region.

The presentations of awards to the winning producers and their charities will be made at  the Hog Quality Awards Luncheon on  Wednesday, March 28th at the Canad Inns Roadhouse.

Luncheon tickets are available at $20 per person
