Much like the prosthetic sock above applies pressure and improves circulation to your affected limb, receiving a massage provides the same effect and may be able to take your mind off the pain and improve your state of relaxation in the process. Because doctors believe that phantom pain is tied to your nervous system, it would also make sense that a practice like acupuncture would benefit you as well. You may even find that this is something you will want to pursue outside of your pain management needs!

Phantom pain can be frustrating to deal with as there is no direct source of pain to treat. Fortunately enough, the problem is understood well enough that there are ways for you to handle the problem so that your pain doesn’t control your life.
