A big part of our jobs in the goop fashion department is getting distracted. It’s actually encouraged. That’s because sifting through the latest and greatest in art, culture, and—of course—fashion is how we keep inspiration levels high. We created this column to share these insights with everyone. Expect to read about up-and-coming collaborations, virtual exhibitions that hit a spectrum of cultural touchpoints, notable store openings, and anything else we hope gets you as excited as it gets us.
With the holidays coming in hot, we thought we’d bring you up to speed on all of the good-looking giftables out there (for anyone looking to go all out), shiny bar stars that make the most out of at-home entertaining (however small), a pop-up in one of our favorite snowy cities (’tis the ski-son), and more.

It’s where one goes for good china in a pinch (looking at you, newlyweds), a sterling-silver baby spoon (for your bestie with a little one on the way), or a handsome picture frame to go in dad’s study. When it comes to the holidays? Covered there, too. These classed-up bar cart accoutrements work for just about anyone on the list—plus, they feel particularly on point for 2020, elevating at-home happy hours to chicer ground. Not even 2020 could halt designers Dries van Noten’s and Giorgio Armani’s grand plans to bring two IRL shopping experiences to life this year. Filled with tattered vinyl, vintage books, andarchival pieces from past collections, along with splashy wall art done by what the Belgian designer hopes will be a rotating roster of local artists, the La Cienega Dries van Noten store could not be more fitting for LA. Over in higher altitudes, Giorgio Armani is busy getting those ski legs firmly established with the unveiling of its cozy Aspen pop-up—open now through March 2021—where you’ll find everything from gondola-like fixtures and shearling accents to highly technical pieces for hitting the slopes and, of course, outfitting from the Neve collection for whatever comes after. Also clutch? Both stores are offering virtual and private appointments.
PLUME DE CHANEL RING
Inspired by the maison’s first fine jewelry collection, Bijoux de Diamants—which originally debuted in 1932—this Plume de Chanel ring is, simply put: exquisite. A flexible diamond-encrusted feather spans two eighteen-karat yellow-gold bands, offset by a glittering, pear-shaped sparkler at the stem. Timeless, elegant, and all-out glamorous, it’s the kind of piece you put on your pie-in-the-sky wish list simply because the thought of clinking glasses with this beauty on your finger is escapism at its very finest.
LOEWE AND BEHOLD
Jonathan Anderson has bestowed upon the travel-hungry a bold, unapologetically graphic collection. True to form, Anderson sought inspiration in a niche art discovery: a series of twenty ceramic plates hand-painted by artist Ken Price. The resulting ready-to-wear collection is as uniformly uplifting as it is exactingly executed. Colorblocked mohair scarves, jackets with palms splashed across the back, iconic Loewe bags reinterpreted as canvases for beachy cityscapes—it’s exactly what a Jonathan Anderson collection inspired by a set of plates made for a 1980s Newport Beach restaurant should be. And we want one of everything.
Come for the seven-episode miniseries presented by Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele and codirected by Gus Van Sant and stay for the parade of gorgeously shot, ingeniously styled looks unveiled in each ten-ish-minute episode. The entire GucciFest experience is as visually stimulating as Coachella, with the blue-chip luxury vibe of Art Basel. The series was originally released over the course of a week, but now the entire OUVERTURE of Something That Never Ended is available on Gucci’s YouTube channel. We’re not sure which is more exciting: the slides, bags, shades, and endless layers of Gucci—or Harry Styles, who (fresh off of his Vogue cover) appears in episode three. And in an unexpected twist, Gucci also elevated a lineup of independent designers—Collina Strada among them—by showcasing their films and designs alongside OUVERTURE on Gucci YouTube and at GucciFest.com.
